Cubby Care holds the health and wellbeing of our families, children and staff of the highest priority. During these times we just want you to know that we are still operating, but at an adapted level, with advice from the government according to the public health situation that continues to unfold. 

In the wake of the Public Health Emergency of International Concern that has been declared in relation to COVID-19 (also known as coronavirus), we want you to know that we are taking every possible measure at our services to ensure that everyone is protected. 

These stringent precautions include minimising excursions to public places, increased sanitisation measures across all of our services, and an extra vigilant approach to managing illness at the service. We know that children thrive when they have a regular routine, especially in times of uncertainty and stress. This is why we are continuing to maintain regular routines and keep all our children in inspiring and enriching learning environments.

We have well practised and industry high standards of hygiene and infection control, with daily cleaning of centres using hospital grade cleaning products. We also continue to teach our children the importance of good hygiene and hand washing, and encourage you to continue this education at home. 

The Department of Education and Training continues to work closely with the Department of Health and Human Services to monitor the situation and identify and manage any impacts on early childhood centres. You can be assured that we have been preparing and stand ready to act should the need arise. The Department of Education and Training have just issued a school travel ban directive until further notice for all students and staff travel to international destinations other than New Zealand.

Cubby Care takes these measures very seriously, and in light of this recent directive for schools, we have chosen to proactively safeguard our service community. This means that as of today, until further notice, all staff, families and children that have travelled overseas to any country, other than New Zealand will be excluded from the service for 14 days after they re-entered Australia.

In order to continue to safely monitor the health of all of our children and families, please be aware that extra vigilance is in place in relation to monitoring any symptoms of illness. 

We will be in touch if your child appears to be ill whilst in our care and will require that you collect them and take care of them at home. If your child develops cold or flu-like symptoms, please: 

• keep your child at home; 
• avoid close contact with others such as touching, kissing or hugging, or any mass gatherings, especially those involving other children; 
• see a doctor or seek medical advice;
• seek medical advice if your child has other underlying medical conditions; and 
• call ahead to the medical centre or doctor’s surgery, advising of your child’s symptoms and the closure of the school.
